External Building Decontamination

Unless your building has proper bird management solutions in place, it will be liable to problems that arise with bird infestation. Wherever birds nest and roost they leave bird guano, which contains uric acid and which itself can cause health hazards to the occupants of the building. The inhalation of dust or water droplets that contain bird excreta can lead to several diseases, which is why proper building decontamination of an affected area is so important. Birds can spread diseases like salmonella and histoplasmosis (which causes lung problems) through their droppings. You don’t need to touch the droppings, it’s enough to just breathe in the airborne particles. Other diseases include Chlamydiosis, Psittacosis, Cryptococcosis, Campylobacter, Salmonellosis, Extrinsic Allergic Alveolitis, Erysipelas, and E. coli. Particularly when dry, guano can be a risk to the health of your customers and staff and where possible should be decontaminated as soon as possible using methods in accordance with HSE guidelines, PPE & relevant risk assessments. This also applies to areas that have been affected by animal waste, fungal matter and any noxious chemicals that have leaked onto an external surface.
